Acupuncture is one of the most recognisable aspects of Traditional Chinese Medicine. It involves using very fine sterilized needles at specific points in the body to achieve a natural healing response. The WHO has listed acupuncture as a proven effective treatment for many diseases. As the volume of scientific evidence demonstrating its effectiveness grows, many forward-thinking health institutions are incorporating it into their medical programmes. In the US for example, the Mayo Clinic, the Cleveland Clinic, and the Johns Hopkins Hospital all offer acupuncture treatment.
Herbal Medicine
The origins of herbal medicine in China predate written records. Traditional Chinese herbal medicine follows a well-established system of diagnosis and treatment, selecting the most effective herbs from over 11,000 that are currently documented. As more high-quality research on herbs is being carried out, the effectiveness of this treatment is gaining increased attention in western countries. We use only the highest quality plant-based herbs, which are tested and certified as free-from contaminants such as heavy metals or pesticides.
Lifestyle Wellbeing
Lifestyle changes are now recognised as being key to improving health for many illnesses. This includes sleep, movement, diet, stress management, social connection etc. The influence of lifestyle on health has always been integral to traditional Chinese medical theory. Lifestyle factors are crucial to understand the root cause of disease, and addressing them should be part of any comprehensive health review.
Electro-Acupuncture
A safe and gentle electrical voltage is applied between specific acupuncture points to provide enhanced or altered effects, when suitable to do so.
Auricular Acupuncture
Particular points on the ear are used for diagnosis and treatment. Small, non-piercing seeds are used to stimulate the selected points.
Cupping
A vacuum cup is placed on the skin which draws blood into the associated area. Often used to treat muscular issues, in conjunction with acupuncture.
Moxibustion
Smokeless dried mugwort is burned near selected acupuncture points to heat them and enhance the effect of the point in specific situations.
